  16. Ok - I maybe wasn't very precise in my original posting and although I
  17. have had some very helpful E-Mails I still am lost.

  19. I know Kermit very well.  I can install it on a serial link and
  20. configure it and write any scripts that I may need.  I don't know
  21. Novell.  I do know a fair amount of Unix and what I don't know I have
  22. a plentiful supply of manual pages and O'Reilly books that have always
  23. stood by me.

  25. The Novell network we have was an isolated entity.
  26. The two SCO Unix (3.2.4) boxes are networked together using SCO
  27. TCP/IP.

  29. I joined the two networks together so that physically they are now one
  30. but packetly (?) they don't know anything about the other.  I
  31. understand that it is alright to do this.

  33. I have MS-Kermit 3.14 and the book, (and the book for the Unix version
  34. too - I am a bit of a kermit fan)
  35. I would like to use MS-Kermit to connect from a Dos machine, which has
  36. connectivity to the Novell server, to the Unix machines and run as a
  37. terminal.
  38. The Novell machines do not have a net.cfg - they just load ipx.com and
  39. then netx.exe and that is it.  I do have the netware client disks that
  40. have the vlms on and have loaded them on one PC, but cannot access the
  41. Novell system or the Unix system when using it.  I do not have a
  42. driver for the Ethernet board to bind to in net.cfg.

  44. Is it possible for me to connect a Dos box using kermit to the Unix
  45. box over TCP/IP and miss out the Novell side of it all together?

  47. Could my Novell server be using different packet thingy (technical
  48. term) to Ethernet_802.2 ?

  50. The Novell clients ethernet cards seem to be NE1000 compatbile - does
  51. this present a problem ?

  53. I am sorry if I am not much help in helping myself but I have taken
  54. the responsibilty for this system and there is no documentation on
  55. it's setup.  This is not a problem for the Unix side of things as I
  56. know my way around but I do not know enough about Novell etc..

  58. Any help, advice, suggestions etc.. would be very greatly appreciated
  59. - if all else fails i'll run a few RS232 lines to each PC :)
